For me, at this time, music tends to first suggest interactions. Most significant in writing this piece are the interactions between the players as they move through the piece; as levels of independence and cooperation vary, so do their interactions with each other and the score. Also significant is how each listener creates their own unique experience by interacting with the concept and resultant sound, and how communication with others afterwards proves just as meaningful. Interactions between myself and the four players in working out how to create and realise the piece demonstrate to me how music is simply a subset of society. |
