I wish est le portrait musical d’un espace intérieur où désirs inaccessibles, envies ambiguës et peurs persistantes luttent pour avoir préséance. Cette œuvre se compose de quelques fragments vocaux et instrumentaux puisés dans une simple complainte intitulée Home, que j’ai composée il y a plusieurs années de cela, ici interprétée par Rita Rankin. |

I wish is a musical portrait of an inner space, in which unattainable longings, ambiguous desires, and persistent fears jostle for position. The piece was constructed from a few vocal and instrumental fragments taken from a simple song of lament titled Home, performed by Rita Rankin, which I composed several years earlier. |

I wish («Je souhaite») a été réalisée en 2000 dans les Electroacoustic Music Studios de la University of Birmingham (Angleterre, RU) et a été créée le 10 novembre 2001, pendant le concert «Novars» organisé par {acro:beast} au CBSO Centre (Birmingham, RU). Elle a aussi été présentée à {acro:seamus} 2001 (Baton Rouge, LA, ÉU) et à {acro:beast}: Spatial Awareness (Birmingham) en 2003, ainsi que dans des événements canadiens. Le compositeur reconnaît l’apport financier du Nova Scotia Arts Council à la réalisation de cette œuvre. |

I wish was realized in 2000 in the Electroacoustic Music Studios of the University of Birmingham (England, UK) and premiered on November 10, 2001 during the “Novars” concert produced by {acro:beast} at the CBSO Centre (Birmingham, UK). The work has also been presented in {acro:seamus} 2001 (Baton Rouge, LA, USA), and {acro:beast}: Spatial Awareness (Birmingham) in 2003, and in other events in Canada. The composer acknowledges financial support from the Nova Scotia Arts Council during the creation of this work. |
